Social Media Page
A new Social Media page has been added to Luminary Content under “Learn Digital Accessibility. The resources that are included are from the Accessible Social website that was started and is maintained by Alexa Heinrich. Most other websites and trainings about accessible social media use information from Alexa’s website.
While I put Social Media at the bottom of the learning section, it may be a nice place for communicators to start applying digital accessibility principles because they are easy to understand and implement.
2024 DOJ Rule Resource
I recently came across a webpage the Department of Justice created about a year ago to help state and local governments comply with the 2024 DOJ Rule affecting Title II of the ADA.
The page is State and Local Governments: First Steps Toward Complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act Title II Web and Mobile Application Accessibility Rule and it has suggested steps state or local governments may want to follow to comply with the DOJ Rule.
It serves as a nice planning guide with details about who needs to know and understand the Rule within an organization, conducting a content and systems audit, prioritizing content fixes, procurement considerations, and creating a plan to ensure digital accessibility processes and workflows are part of organizational practices.
For those that aren’t part of state or local government, I would still recommend checking out this web page because the information can be applied to any organization that is starting to address digital accessibility.
