New Content Added – Making Docs Accessible, PAC Tool Training, Communicators Handout

Making Documents Accessible Page

A new Making Documents Accessible page has been added to Luminary Content under “Learn Digital Accessibility.” Most documents found on websites are PDFs, so this page was created to provide some guidance about how to make them accessible.

In general, making PDFs accessible is going to be more difficult than it will be to make a webpage. With that in mind, the page has some recommendations about when it may be better to create webpage content instead of a PDF.

While there are many tools and software on the market to create accessible documents, I only included the ones that I have personally used which are Microsoft Word, PAC 2026, and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.

PAC Tool Training Webinars

While I was curating resources for the Making Documents Accessible page, I found that there are PAC 2026 (PDF Accessibility Checker tool) Getting Started webinars provided by the organization that built it. It appears that these free 30 minute trainings are offered monthly in 2026.

Check out the Luminary Content Keep Learning page for the link to the PAC events page, which has the dates and registration link.

Digital Accessibility for Communicators Handout

For one of my recent speaking events I created a Digital Accessibility for Communicators handout to help communicators see why it is important that they learn and apply digital accessibility to their communications materials.

Recently, someone reached out to me and asked if I had any advice about how to convince others content creators in their organization that digital accessibility is something they should start embracing. I realized that this handout may be helpful for him to share with his fellow team members, so I added it to the website so others could share it as well. It can be found on the Digital Accessibility Intro page.
